Award-Winning Cruises, Sorted by Category

Most award coverage starts with the trophy and works backward. Cruising Awards starts with you. If you want the best cruise for families, the most romantic ship, the best food at sea or a port that is a pleasure to sail from, we show which award winning cruises took that exact category — with the program and year beside every name.

The results come from the programs that publish category winners: the World Cruise Awards 2026 winners list (lines, ships, suites, ports, terminals and destinations, world and region by region), Cruise Critic’s editors’ picks from December 2025, and reader-voted lists such as Travel + Leisure’s. Where only a cruise line’s own announcement reports a win, we say so. Where sources disagree, we leave the result out rather than guess.

A single category win is a clue, not a verdict. A ship that is superb for families can feel busy on a honeymoon, and the best dining ship may not sail your dates. Treat the table as a list of strong candidates, then compare itineraries and cabins.

Why Category Awards Beat Overall Rankings

Overall rankings blend everything — food, cabins, crew, entertainment, price — into one score, so the winner is the line that pleases the most voters on average. Category awards isolate one thing. That is far closer to how people actually choose: a grandparent planning a multi-generation trip wants the best family ship, not the line with the highest blended score.

Category results also spread the honors around. In the 2026 World Cruise Awards alone, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity, Disney, Regent Seven Seas and Star Clippers all took ship or suite categories, while Norwegian Cruise Line won the overall line title. That variety is the point: there is no single best cruise, only the best fit for a particular trip.

Gold and silver medals with ribbons beside small trophies
  • Check the year. Everything here is from 2025 or 2026 editions; older wins can describe a ship before its last refit.
  • Check the scope. “World’s best” and “Caribbean’s best” are different titles, and the World Cruise Awards publish both.
  • Check the ship. Many awards go to one ship, not the whole fleet; ask which ship sails your dates.

Where This Site Fits

If you want the awards themselves explained — who runs each program, how votes are counted, and the full winners by year — our sister site Cruise Awards covers that, and Cruise Industry Awards covers the trade awards travel agents follow. Cruising Awards stays on one job: turning those results into a shortlist by what you want from your trip. New to cruising? First Time Cruise walks through the basics first.

When you have a shortlist, our cruise advisors at Mister Cruise will price the award winners side by side on your dates and check current promotions on Wave Season and Cruising for Less. You can also browse lines and cruise services on the Official Cruise Directory.

Award Winning Cruises: Quick Answers

What makes a cruise “award winning”?

Only a named award from a named program in a stated year. On this site every award-winning cruise is listed with the program and year beside it, so you can check it yourself.

Which award lists categories like families, romance and dining?

The World Cruise Awards name ships for families, romance, dining, entertainment, activities and technology, and Cruise Critic’s editors pick categories such as best new ship and best value. Reader polls usually rank whole lines by ship size instead.

Do award-winning ports matter when choosing a cruise?

They can. A well-run terminal makes embarkation smoother, and a destination award hints at what a port does well. They matter most when you are choosing between itineraries.

Does Cruising Awards give its own awards?

No. We sort other organizations’ published results by category and leave the judging to them.

Cruising Awards is part of the Smart Traveler network, led by Mister Cruise. He has sold travel since 1972 and worked full-time in the industry since 1977. He has sold or originated more than $500 million in cruises and has trained more than 500 travel agents.
